It wasn't a fucking challenge

When I said "What next?" it most certainly wasn't a challenge for life to test me once again...but strangely enough, life likes to fuck my family in the arse on a regular basis.

Before I get into the awful news, I would like to preface it by saying that today is December 31st, and 2013 has NOTHING but fantastic things in store for my family.

1. Because we deserve it
2. Because I'm going to make them happen
and 3. BECAUSE I FUCKING SAID SO.

I spent Christmas Eve in the Emergency room with my poor little Ryder. While getting E ready for guests (ie: shaved and dressed because he is in a wheelchair and can't do it himself) my father in law started a fire in the wood burning fireplace, turned his back for a nano-second to grab folding chairs to place in front of it as a safety precaution, and my poor little man used both hands to palm the glass doors.

He has second degree burns. He's in constant pain. He only wants his Mommy. All. The. Time. He clings to me every waking moment. And when he is asleep, he cries out several times a night. He's itchy. He's missing the use of his hands. And he is frustrated.

So am I.

We saw a plastic surgeon last week and the good news is they do not believe he will need skin grafts. The bad news is he has weeks of healing, and may need to keep the bandages on for a long time. We go back on Wednesday to have them removed and possibly changed.

See what I mean? Life has been a fucking douche.

BUT.

I refuse to let it continue happening. I refuse to let it conquer me. I refuse, NAY, I completely 100% WILL NOT ALLOW 2013 to become another shitty year for my family.

I pretty much just assume we're gonna win the lottery. It would really be the only way life could make up for 2012. For reals.
